Pardon My Howl

Full Moon

My, what a big moon you have, Grandmother.

The better to heal you with, my dear.

There's nothing like a full moon on a clear night to put things into perspective. Its ancient magic transforms despair into a simple, silver melancholy. It is good to be reminded that we are, after all, very small.

Did you use a tripod? It's a great photo and all I get are blobs....

Gorgeous shot.

And sometimes we need to howl at the moon, just to remember we're alive and that being alive is pretty awesome.

You haven't posted much lately. Everything okay?

Thanks for the encouraging words on the photo, everyone! It was sort of a lucky accident. The sky was actually much lighter. I set the exposure down two full stops and used the optical zoom at its maximum, then darkened the resulting photo a bit in my editor. No tripod. The moon was very low on the horizon, and the evening was crystal clear, which is probably a big part of it.

And Sally ... some days yes, other days not so much.

What an incredible shot! Really gorgeous! Sights like this do help put things into perspective, don't they?
