Nature Notes: Morning Has Broken

Green Diamonds

Houseguests are due any minute, but I didn't want to miss out on Nature Notes, so you're getting a quickie:

In a nutshell, we seem to have a new neighbor somewhere to the north of us who loves guns. I mean, loooooooves guns. He starts shooting around 6 or 7PM and keeps it up until after dark. It's like living beside a rifle range.

So. Since that totally winds me up, I stay inside in the evening, where I can't hear it. To get my daily dose of natural peace and tranquility, I have to get out there in the morning before work.

And I am not a morning person.

However, I have discovered that the world looks entirely different in those early hours. I am now involved in a love affair with dew drops and dawn light.

I guess every cloud really does have a silver lining. But if Mr. NRA keeps this up, I'm going to have to have a chat with him. Not looking forward to that.

Hope everyone has a great (and gunshot free) holiday!

Good luck with Mr. NRA. Hope you can find some common language and understanding.

Love affair with dew drops sounds marvelous - so pretty in your picture.

I am guessing that you live somewhere that guns are allowed to be fired because you can't do that in our town. Too bad people don't always listen. Hmmm... Talking to a gun lover. Good luck with that and keep us posted.... Enjoy your company. Michelle

What a twit! I have a feeling that there must be some sort of local ordinance that doesn't permit that sort of thing, because it sounds dangerous! - you might want to consult with the police about that. They don't have to bring your name into it, either, and you don't expose yourself as the spoilsport.

But love that photo! It looks like some sort of jeweled choker! :-)

I agree with RJ Iwould check with police. I have done that about barking dogs. Lovely photo.

Thanks for your concern, everyone. I have thought about the police, but I'm a little worried about ticking off a gun nut.

I'd be surprised if there's any ordinance against target practice here. We're outside city limits and the woods all around us are used for hunting. If it continues to be an issue, though, I'll give the "county mounties" a call.

Good luck, I don't envy that conversation. Hopefully he will hear your concerns - it does sound rather dangerous. Thank you for your Nature Notes and I hope you have a good time with your house guests. ~ Lori

What concerns me about Mr. NRA is that he doesn't seem to have anything else to do all day but fire a gun.

I also got a shot with dew drops on it this morning for Nature Notes, but unless you blow the photo up really big, it doesn't show up as nicely as yours does. Very nice.
