All I want is a room somewhere,
Far away from the cold night air,
With one enormous chair,
Ah, wouldn't it be loverly?
Lots of choc'lates for me to eat,
Lots of coal makin' lots of heat.
Warm face, warm hands, warm feet,
Ah, wouldn't it be loverly?
Yes, Eliza, it is.
I came home late from a rough day that included a two-hour job interview to find a fire in the hearth, dinner in progress, and flowers on the table. Do I have a great hubby or what?
Oh, so loverly just to sit so abso-bloomin'-lutely still.
I would never budge 'til spring
Crept over me windowsill.
Someone's head restin' on my knee,
Warm and tender as he can be.
Who takes good care of me,
Ah, wouldn't it be loverly?
Loverly. Loverly.
Oh yeah. Loverly.
*P.S. The italicized lyrics are from the musical play My Fair Lady and are sung by the character Eliza. Apologies - I should have noted that.

Very Nice Poem, Pretty touching too, and feelings expressed very simply.. I liked the style.

The song I Could Have Danced All Night just sends me into the atmosphere for the excitement in it. Thanks for bringing My Fair Lady to mind today! I am glad you had such a fabulous experience. It's a rare moment that makes me break into a My Fair Lady song, but in my life those are mountaintop happiness moments!
I knew right away where the lyrics were from. Hmmm... I don't think I have ever had a fire, dinner and flowers. You DO have a great hubby, but then he has you too... Michelle
What a sweet, care-filled, loving treat! Sounds like you've got a keeper.
And congratulations on getting to that stage of the interview process. Good luck!
Havenwood you do have a good hubby. I try an do the same thing for my wife but I havent got any flowers for her. Thanks Ill have to do that. It wont be long before we will have a fire an laying in front of it. You have a good day if you like rain Bye Bye Ed
I could use a fireplace about now. It is 18 degrees and snowing. I will have to just enjoy yours.
Bhuvan and Kcalpesh - I'm glad you liked the lyrics, but I have to say I did not write them. It is a song from a play, My Fair Lady, that is popular here in the states.
Dsmcaron - "Mountaintop moments"? What a colorful description! I'll have to remember that one.
Michelle, I definitely got the better end of the deal.
Sally, thanks! I'm gonna need a ton of luck for this one.
Ed, you sound like a keeper too. I'd love to know what your sweet wife says when you show up with flowers. Do drop by and tell?
Moosh, ours actually heats part of the house, so it goes nonstop in the winter. And we may get snow here too this weekend. Brrrrrr. Too soon!
