Well, here's the door in its fresh coat of paint.
But hold your applause, because there's more. It develops weird streaks every day. They're chalky white areas with edges that look like ice crystals grew there and melted. Frost damage? On paint?? It can be polished off with a soft cloth, but new ones appear the next day.
I'm at a loss. Any ideas?

Isn't that a strange phenomenon! Might it have something to do with the door itself, or a primer if you used one before the coat of red? Maybe you could get an answer at a paint store (but I hope you don't have to take the door with you!). Hope you get that mystery solved soon. Happy Thanksgiving!
I have no idea - but if it's any consolation I like the colour!!
Huh. Interesting. Wonder if it's due to the weather or to the type of paint. Or the age of the paint, for that matter.
It's really pretty, though.
Maybe, the climate has something to do with it!
And oh yes, the photograph is very neat :)

Does paint sweat?
I've seen stuff like you describe before, but I've no idea what to do :/
I too love the color..but I don't know what the problem might be.. hmmm... Michelle
try this website
milky paint
Jane, it may have to do with the door being metal. That's the only big difference between this and all the other doors I've painted.
Frayed and Sally - Thanks! The color did turn out well, I think. Weather could be a factor. The edges of the chalky parts look like ice crystal patterns.
Bhavesh and Nicole, I think both of you may be onto something there. I don't know if paint sweats, but water may have condensed on it.
Michelle, thanks so much for that web link! I think that may be the problem. I'll have to contact the paint people and ask what to do.
Did you find out anything about this?
