When my older son was a toddler, on a day when I was apparently asleep at the wheel, he decided it might be fun to poop on the bathroom carpet. So he did. And then, he tried to clean it up. I got involved at the point where loud wails began to emanate from behind the bathroom door. The kid, the carpet, and the walls were covered in poop, and all he could get out between sobs was, "I don't know what to do! I don't know what to do!"
So. It's kinda like that.
It's a week into the moving project, and all we've managed to do so far is to spread all of our s*** all over the place in two houses. And I don't know what to do.
The last time we moved ourselves, all our stuff fit in the back of a VW van. Every time since, hubby's company sent movers. A crew of burly men would descend on the house, wrap and box everything in the place, and load it into a truck. Our possessions would magically reappear a few days later in a new house in a new state, where a new set of burly men would perform the whole process in reverse. God, I miss those guys.
Part of this situation is due to a difference of opinion on how to proceed. My feeling was that we should move everything we don't need first, and keep the old place livable 'til the last. His approach involved tearing apart everything big and camping out in the new place while we reconstructed a workable home. As a result, nothing much has actually gotten moved at all.
We're down to the wire now. Relatives are arriving Friday night to help us load a rental truck. It would be good if we had it all in boxes to load by then. I'd say the odds are 50/50 at best.
I'm told this computer setup is getting packed tomorrow, ready or not. I've spent a few days throwing my body between the hubby and my desk, but there's just no way to fend him off any longer. So this may be the last post for a while. Pray for me.

Oh Vicki! You had me laughing with the poop story! I remember my oldest daughter as a toddler getting into flour...ALL over her and the kitchen..and a trail around the house! Mmmm??..Wonder what's worse to clean up...poop or flour!? I remember the times I've moved, the frenzy in the last couple days. Thank God for family...with all's help...it'll be just fine! Hey, Good luck, can't wait to hear how it went!
Wonder where those big, burly men were when I needed them for moving?
Praying (and laughing) at what I envision is going on in both houses.
I've only moved twice in my life and the first time I was away and my parents did the move. The second time was from my at home bedroom to the house I live in now.
I am totally unable to give you the tiniest suggestion.
But I do wish you good luck!
Spooky, we had a similar incident with the younger son involving baby powder. It must be a kid thing. As for cleaning it up, I'll take flour over poop every day of the year.
Kathy, I'll take the moral support and that prayer, thank you!
Yeah..so much isn't like when we were younger. I need to know where the coffee pot is so that I can load it up and turn it on with only a few morning brain cells firing. So I can only imagine what you are dealing with and yes..it is a lot of doo-doo..
I'm probably too late with this and your computer has been disassembled and boxed up. But I'll look on the bright side and know that means it's waiting for you to find when you can finally log on again.
Moving is one of the longest, least pleasant tasks I can think of. And there's always that awful moment when it's a horrible mess and you're completely up in the air and it seems like it will never get done. And then, suddenly, it is. I have never figured out how that happens, but it sounds like you're in the middle of the horrible mess bit.
You'll be fine and it will all be over soon, probably before you see this comment.
First of all thanks for coming by, I did ad a paragraph more about her saving our lives from a fire. Back to the moving situation, when we moved I got boxes for each room and packed and marked them, if we did not need them until we moved I took them to the new house. This also freed the space to move the big stuff on moving day. I did this with our clothes and dresser drawers, left only what we would need until moving day, good luck, can't wait to hear about it.
hey, a bad situation often makes a good story and you tell a great one!
Good luck!
Thanks SO much, everyone, for your support and kind wishes! You guys have really helped me through a rough time, and you'll never know how much I appreciate it.
Hugs all around!
Vicki
Vicki, you are too funny! In the midst of all this, you haven't lost your sense of humor and you've relayed your feelings and situation to us very well with your anecdotal post. Love it!
